Mindfulness meditation does not promote holding a specific state of mind, as we can not get any state of mind to stay. Rather, it quiets the mind and gently opens the heart, helping us to live more fully in the reality of the present without needing it to be any different than it is now. At the same time, meditation can help us fulfill our deepest desires, discover inner freedom, and experience happiness. With a new sense of inner stillness, we can see and learn from everything within and around us. Quieting our mind and body produces many known health benefits such as reduced tension and healing of the body.
